4.4. Glissando at the Labium

also labium glissando

French: glissando au labium

German: Labiumglissando or Labialglissando

Description

As with all manipulations at the labium, with glissando at the labium the tone-shaping centre of the instrument is influenced directly. Since one hand is above the labium, only the notes that can be played with the other hand are available (see also…..). The (partial) closure of the labium lowers the pitch. A glissando on the labium can be performed with the whole hand over the labium or with one or more fingers over or on the labium, which can result in different sound effects (for further explanations and listening examples see …… Manipulations at the labium). Glissando at the labium is also possible when playing only on the headjoint (see also …..).
